President's Welcome

Welcome to the Associated Student Government Website! The Associated Student Government (ASG) is here to serve as your voice to the administration. We are students serving students and are fully dedicated to making an impactful change to this university for the betterment of our students and our great university.
I could not be more proud to represent the students of Texas State University. We are all a part of one the best times in Texas State history. From becoming an Emerging Research Institution to becoming a Hispanic Serving Institution, Texas State is growing rapidly. This year we have the largest freshman class in our campus’ history, and our campus too is expanding.
Over the years, ASG has been responsible for initiatives such as the university’s name change, moving to a Division 1 Athletics program, and bringing a Starbucks to the LBJ Student Center. Each year, ASG administrations have different initiatives that they focus on to change Texas State University for the better.
This year, we are looking to make ASG an effective resource for students. A consultant from the Associated Student Government Association will be evaluating our ASG to see how we can make a difference in the lives of students. We recognize that our student government has its flaws, and we hope to correct those. Our expectation is to transform our organization into something that student’s value and utilize more often.
In addition, we hope to create a culture shift at Texas State by instilling more pride in our students. We have secured a large location for tailgate, so that students can have a great pre-football game atmosphere. We have also worked to start a new traditions that involves having the Strutters, cheerleaders, band, and Boko lead a march into the stadium from tailgate.
Students at our university recognize that there are more ways for our campus to go green, so our executive staff and other members of ASG are working to engage students in this process. Through working with various university departments and collaborating with students, we hope to see a positive impact in the way this university and its students take care of our environment.
If you would like to get involved with ASG or just want to know more about what is going on at our university, please come to our senate meeting! We meet every Monday at 7pm in the LBJ Teaching Theater on the 4th floor. You can also visit our office that is located in LBJ 4-5.1. We are always available to listen to the issues facing our students, and we would appreciate you taking the time to contact us.
I hope that this year, you see that your student government is being a resource for you. If you ever feel that we are not doing our job, please let us know. We want to best represent you, and we need your help to do so.
Remember, it’s always a GREAT day to be a Bobcat!
