Welcome, My Fellow Graduate Students!
It is my pleasure to greet you at the start of another terrific year at Texas State University-San Marcos. Whether you are here for the first time or a veteran student, it is my sincere hope that you will have a wonderful and beneifical experience within one of the greatest graduate universities in the nation. Our university is steeped in tradition, honor and integrity. You have chosen to join many men and women who hold these traits in the highest regard. At a time of economic strain and uncertainty, your decision to attend graduate school speaks highly of your dedication to self-improvement, the value of your social contribution, and your tenacity. These traits are all components found in successful people. Together we will leave a tremendous legacy for those who will come after us.
While graduate school is hard work, it is also a time for you to build professional and social relationships that can last a lifetime. The Graduate House of Representatives seeks to serve your needs on campus. We are here for you, serving as your voice in student legislation, and your liaison to the administration. We welcome your input, and hope that you will make the most of our planning and efforts. There are many ways you can be involved in more than just the academic side of your graduate school experience, whether you enjoy recreational sports, community service, or professional and honor organizations. There are student organizations for nearly anything imaginable. The only component missing is you!
Again, I offer my welcome to you. I wish you the very best this year.
